At Bikram Yoga Lake Norman, we believe in setting goals. But that is not our focus. Making progress is. So, we have created a fun 30 day 3-step fitness challenge to help you make progress with your practice.
It turns out that making consistent progress toward a goal is much more effective than “resolution” thinking, which fosters “all or nothing” behavior. The world wants us to believe we can goof off now, and then set a mighty resolution to get fit, and that will get us back into shape in no time!”
Because we’ve been there ourselves, and learned first hand that it didn’t work, we discovered a better way. One that is simple and achievable for anyone, anytime.
What is the 3 Step Fitness Challenge?
It’s a way for you to improve your fitness results by challenging yourself for 30 days with three simple steps:
Step 1: Show up.
For the priorities of life, like our health and fitness, showing up comes first.
It’s the first thing that goes on our calendar. Rather than making a daily “should I or shouldn’t I” decision, it is done.
For Example: 3 morning classes and 1 evening class are on my recurring weekly schedule. The commitment is made. The fitness bag is reloaded and at front door. The water bottle is full.
Step 2: Focus on process rather than results.
Most of us have big goals in mind for our lives, and that is great! However, once the goal is clear, our focus needs to shift to the small steps needed to reach the goal, not the goal itself.
Examples: Mary decided to show up for more 10 more classes this month than last moth, so that became her challenge. Sue was attending class regularly and needed an additional boost, so she focused on improving one posture per class.
Step 3: Keep score.
We are accountable to ourselves because we track our progress each and every day. Our 30-Day 3 Step Fitness Challenge is a fun and effective way to keep score! The next time you are at the studio, just pick up a Challenge Card that you use for tracking your progress. That’s it!

Let’s assume you have a goal of getting in shape in order to feel and look great!
You’re clear on your goal.
Now, all you need to do is start the 3-steps:
- Show up.
Determine how many times you’ll show up for practice beginning January 15. The more you show up, the better.
- Focus on the process, not the goal.

THE CHALLENGE begins January 15, 2018 and ends February 13, 2018. We will have a Valentine’s Celebration party on February 14th to announce the winners.
YOUR CHALLENGE / YOUR CHOICE
Different people choose different challenges. The challenge you choose is entirely up to you. Most students challenge themselves to do more classes over 30 days, for example:
“Each week, I’ll show up for 3 classes rather than 2 classes.”
While you get to challenge yourself to complete a certain number of classes in 30 days, the fun part is that YOU DECIDE what your challenge will include! Realize that there are no penalties if you do not meet your goal. BONUS…ALL classes build points in your “fitness bank”.
Here are some suggestions…
- Set your intention to reach one of the levels depending upon your goal.
- Maybe it’s a traditional 30 classes in 30 days, or maybe its one of your own making…something like 3 classes a week for 4 weeks. You set your intention and we and your fellow students will support you on your journey.
Many students also include additional commitments that help them build better fitness habits. For example:
- I’ll schedule my practice into my calendar before anything else.
- Every day, I’ll do one sun salutation and a 30 second plank as part of my morning wake up ritual.
- I’ll put my workout gear, water and towel in the car every night before I hit the sack.
- I’ll stand taller and breathe better during my class time.
- Even if I’m tired and hungry, I’ll show up for my practice, because that is what really sustains me.
HERE IS HOW IT WORKS:
- Stop by the front desk of Bikram Yoga Lake Norman to sign up for the Challenge and get an official Challenge card to track your progress. Free stickers track each class/activity on your card.
- There is no cost to join the Challenge, although you you must have a class package in order to participate. (Note: If your goal is 10 or more classes then we would recommend a monthly unlimited pass for the Challenge. It is still the best deal in town!).
- If you are traveling, you can practice at any affiliated/franchised Bikram Yoga studio for class credit.
- It is helpful to identify a Challenge “buddy” to help support you throughout the Challenge period.
THE GRAND PRIZE
Each participant that completes 20 classes or more (including Bikram Yoga, Inferno Hot Pilates, Inferno Sculpt, Warm Stretch) will be entered into our raffle that will make them eligible for a FREE month unlimited classes at BYLKN for the month following the Challenge. The drawing will take place on February 14th, 2018. You do not need to be present to be the grand prize winner!
If you are the Grand Prize winner and currently in the monthly auto-pay program, you will not be charged for your next consecutive month following completion of the Challenge.

Each participant that completes 15 classes or more (Bikram Yoga, Inferno Hot Pilates, Inferno Sculpt, Warm Stretch) will be eligible for the raffle of the following prizes:

Challenge and Rewards – fine print
If you practice at another Bikram Yoga Studio just bring in your receipt for credit for your Challenge
Within the 30 days you will be able to take a maximum of 2 sets of doubles (2 classes in a day) should you miss a day or a week. For example, you could miss 2 days but would have to make them up with a double some other day in order to reach the goal of 30 classes. No more than 2 doubles are permitted within the 30-day period. Triples (3 classes in a day) are not allowed for the Challenge.
Discounts for yoga packages or retail merchandise expire 30 days after completion of your Challenge.
Some Final thoughts…
Whatever challenge you choose for yourself, commit to make small, consistent steps in your fitness practice.
That’s it. Pure and Simple. While any Challenge is a commitment of time, it is more importantly a commitment to one’s health, wellness, and spirit!
Experience for yourself the amazing physical, mental and physiological benefits of a consistent practice. During the Challenge, you may notice changes in your body. Perhaps you will lose weight, become stronger, and you will settle into a healthier eating and sleeping patter. One thing is for sure, you will never be the same once you’ve completed your Challenge and will look and feel better than ever!
